Dr Meltem Yavuz Sercekman
Lecturer in Management

Eastern Gateway 201 - Desk 20

  • Strategy and Entrepreneurship

Summary

I am a Lecturer in Management at Brunel Business School with over a decade of experience in organizational psychology, workplace wellbeing, and employee health. My work also addresses critical topics such as women’s health and the challenges of managing chronic conditions in professional settings. As a certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher and menstrual health coach, I provide evidence-based consultancy services to individuals and organizations, focusing on creating healthier, more inclusive workplaces.

Before joining Brunel in May 2022, I held academic positions at Istanbul University, BaÅŸkent University, and TOBB University of Economics and Technology in Turkiye. These roles provided a valuable perspective on fostering wellbeing and supporting diverse employee needs across professional and cultural contexts.

My research explores interventions that improve work-life balance, productivity, and career sustainability. This includes mindfulness and compassion-based practices, job crafting strategies, and leadership development. Recently, my work has centered on advancing policies and practices for women managing chronic health conditions, particularly endometriosis, in the workplace. These initiatives aim to promote awareness, understanding, and practical solutions that benefit both employees and organizations.

Beyond research and teaching, I collaborate with businesses to design frameworks that integrate academic insights into actionable strategies, enhancing employee health, wellbeing, and engagement.
