Summary
Dr Robyn Smith is a lecturer in Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences (Sports Sociology and Sport Development). Robyn joined Brunel in April 2019 as a Doctoral Researcher in the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS) and has recently completed her PhD. Her inter-disciplinary research utilizes participatory approaches to explore the relationship between community sport and leisure and the wellbeing of young people from marginalized backgrounds. Robyn is an experienced youth practitioner and researcher commited to working in collaboration with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds and third sector organizations to co-create, deliver, and evaluate sport and leisure programmes that enhance what matters most to their wellbeing. Robyn's research interests include: participatory and co-production approaches; forced migration and sport; youth social action; sport for development; and wellbeing.
Robyn is passionate about working in partnership with communities to co-produce meaningful and impacful research. She is interested in supporting organizations, practitioners, and early career researchers to develop their skills and knowledge around utilizing participatory research approaches and has organized numerous webinars, panels, and forums around this area.
