When it comes to packing, you mainly want to have with you the essentials, your personal objects, and specific items that you may find difficult to find in your destination country. Think of the items you use on a day-to-day basis that won’t occupy a lot of space, and that would make you feel more comfortable bringing in your bag.
Before packing your clothes, have a general idea of what the weather is like where you will live to help you pack a more balanced suitcase between cold and hot weather. Don't forget to bring your electronic devices such as your laptop, phone, chargers, etc. Another helpful tip that I was given was not to pack kitchen tools and utensils such as frying pans, spatulas, etc. These items occupy a lot of space, space you can use to pack more essentials like toiletries, such as your toothbrush, medications or prescriptions, etc. Plus, you can find kitchen utensils at pretty much every supermarket at a reasonable price.
This should go without saying, but don't forget to bring with you travel documentation such as your passport (and visa if applicable), driver’s licence, or any other type of identification.
