Summary

Dr James Nunn is currently a Senior Lecture delivering the Metropolitan Police Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) and Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) at СʪÃÃÊÓƵ London (BUL). He is the academic lead for the PCDA End Point Assessment.

James completed a twenty nine-year career with the Metropolitan Police Service in 2016, having undertaken a number of uniform roles. He served at all ranks up to Inspector where he was an operational lead for the Roads and Transport Policing Command pan-London control room embedded in the Transport for London control room. He has expertise in Roads Policing having specialised in this field at all ranks.

Prior to joining the teaching team at BUL, James worked in Higher Education as Senior Instructor at Anglia Ruskin University delivering the PCDA and DHEP course to Kent Police officers and a Lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University delivering the pre-service Professional Policing Degree. 

He has a Doctorate from Loughborough University (2021) where his research explored the culpability and geodemographic profiling of drivers involved in fatal and serious injury road traffic collisions. He also undertook research into the criminal histories of drug drive offenders as part of his MA. He holds a University Certificate in Academic Practice (2020) from Canterbury Christ Church University, a Master of Arts (MA) (with Merit) in Policing and Criminal Justice from Canterbury Crist Church University (2016), a Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons) in Policing from Canterbury Christ Church University and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). Additionally, he is currently an External Examiner at the School of Policing & Justice Studies at Liverpool John Moore’s University. He sits on a number of consultative bodies including the Transport for London Vision Zero Enforcement Reference Group and the HMICFRS Academic Reference Group, he also reviews for a number of journals.
