Today, the Royal Academy of Engineering has announced Prof Hussam Jouhara, Professor of Thermal Engineering at СʪÃÃÊÓƵ London, as one of its new Fellows.
Prof Hussam Jouhara is one of 71 leading figures in the field of engineering and technology appointed as one of the Academy’s new Fellows, having all made exceptional contributions to their own sector, pioneering new innovations, leading progress in business or academia, providing high-level advice to government or promoting a wider understanding of engineering and technology.
Prof Jouhara has unique and extensive expertise in designing and manufacturing various types of heat exchangers, including heat pipes and heat-pipe-based heat exchanges for low, medium and high-temperature applications. His novel designs for industrial waste heat recovery have enhanced the performance of processes in a wide range of industries, such as maté tea in Brazil and the ceramics industry in Italy, and he is project coordinator for a new €3 million European research project aimed at improving how geothermal heat is harnessed for industrial applications.
The Academy now has nearly 1700 Fellows in total, and the newly appointed group of 60 Fellows, six International Fellows and five Honorary Fellows will be formally admitted to the Academy at a special ceremony in London on 27 November.
In joining the Fellowship, the engineering and technology experts will lend their unique capabilities to achieving the Academy’s overarching strategic goal to harness the power of engineering to create a sustainable society and an inclusive economy for all.
On receiving news of his new role in the Fellowship, Prof Jouhara said: “I am delighted to have been elected as a Fellow of @RAEngNews, and to be joining 70 other leading figures in the field of engineering and technology.”
Prof Hua Zhao, Brunel’s Pro Vice Chancellor for Research, was also thrilled to hear about Prof Jouhara’s appointment. “This prestigious recognition reflects his exceptional contributions to engineering and leadership in driving innovation and excellence in research,” he said.
“This fellowship is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his impact, and it is an honour to celebrate this achievement with Prof Jouhara as a colleague and a FREng."
