СʪÃÃÊÓƵ London's Artist in Residence 2023 final exhibition
#ATasteOfSynaesthesia
Presented by Nine Lyrae in association with UKSA (UK Synaesthesia Association) and JTTS (Journey Through The Senses).
Featuring artists, researchers and practitioners from the UK and abroad.
What's Happening - Why Should I attend?
Synaesthesia - a type of neurodiversity that brings a mixing of the senses such as coloured hearing or tasting shapes - has gained more public visibility thanks to artists such as Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Billie Eilish and more...
They all have this condition in common, and the fact that they have used it to inform their artistic practice.
We are bringing together a programme of art and discussion in different forms, all linked by the mixing of different sensory modalities into synaesthetic artistic representations, to the Bargehouse at the iconic OXO tower, London, for the final exhibition of the Artist in Residence programme.
There is something for everyone:
- Artists and arts lover
- Practitioners, students and researchers in the arts, neurodiversity , new technologies and education
- Members of the public
- Anyone who would like to learn and experience something different
Aims of the Day:
- Have a fun, memorable experience
- Learn something new
- Connect with others
- Gain insight into how you and others experience the world
- Think about how we can make the world around us more accessible for everyone

'Art and science are often thought of as being mutually exclusive but there is overlap. Science is constantly trying to explain the world around us with art being the artist's expression of that very same world.
Featuring synaesthetic artists from across the globe, this skilfully curated exhibition, “A Taste of Synaesthesia” breaks down false barriers between the two disciplines and it presents the opportunity to recognise and understand the science underpinning various artworks as well as exploring neurodiverse multisensory experiences through art.
“A Taste of Synaesthesia” provides the opportunity to present some fascinating examples of the vast diversity of human sensory perception. Things that make our world a richer and more beautiful place. It also helps promote the exchange of new ideas, ongoing debate and suggest new approaches in future research to provide explanations and explore solutions within art, science and health & wellbeing.'
