Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?

I started technically in Materials Research quickly moving into Project Management and Project Control on landmark multi-billion pound complex programmes.

What does a typical day at work involve for you?

Project governance, assurance and mentoring the next generation of project professionals.

What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?

Attaining my Chartered Project Professional status and being an APM Awards judge for the last decade.

How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?

It provided a sound technical background but more importantly the Sandwich Degree gave me more relevant industrial experience on graduation than many of my peers.

Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?

Brunel stands for excellence and innovation and personally I wanted the Sandwich Degree element of relevant industrial experience and application of theory to real situations.

What is your best memory of studying here?

Being close enough to London (but far enough away) and with guaranteed accommodation for 2 years really allowed me to focus on studying.

If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?

Work hard, but unlike me, also find time to network, socialise and learn from others and the diversity present in all society. Enjoy your time at Brunel and take all the opportunities to learn both your subject but also about life and different people.

What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?

Be confident, be open and honest and be prepared to be humble and learn from those you meet in the workplace regardless of their level of experience, education and background. Everyone has a story and a value and overlooking anyone's input and ideas will be to your detriment, not theirs.
