Tell us about your career journey since you graduated…
After graduating from Brunel, I gained my MSc in Communications and Signal Processing from Imperial College in November 2019, and in March 2020, I secured a job as a Contractor as TEK Systems; currently I am working as an Application Developer for one of their clients.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
There is a bit of variety in my work, however it is mostly focussed on maintaining and developing one of the client’s applications. This involves frontend development work, backed development (api changes, refactoring core-library). Sometimes there is also analysis / investigation work too.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
When I first started, my first project was to create a dashboard for one of the clients applications, from which I learnt a bit about frontend development and software development in general including unit-testing, version-control (git), and web-API's.
How would you say Brunel helped you to get where you are today?
I met some very nice lecturers during my time at Brunel who pushed and guided me. Thank you to Dr Gan, Dr Meng and Prof Al-Raweshidy who were very kind to me.
Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I’d recommend Brunel for the nice lecturers who are very approachable and want to help you.
If you could give one piece of advice to new students, what would that be?
Doing well in your studies requires discipline; try to learn good habits associated with studying early on.
What would be your top tip or advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey?
Try to not break the good habits you (hopefully) established during university, because the learning never stops.
