Tell us about your educational and/or career journey since you graduated from Brunel?
After my final year exams, I was fortunate to secure a job as an Administrator within Blake Morgan's Real Estate team, where I have now been working for 5 months.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
My day will depend on what the different team members have going on as my role is to provide support. Some typical tasks include carrying out AML checks, ordering land searches and liaising with other teams, such as Archives and Finance.
What’s been the highlight of your career journey so far?
I would say meeting and working with the people in my team. It is reassuring to be surrounded by bright people who believe in you and your potential.
How would you say your Brunel experience has helped you to get where you are today?
I was introduced to my employer through law events at Brunel. Blake Morgan is involved with different activities throughout the year, including a collaborative competition with PwC which I took part in during the first year of my degree.
Why did you choose to study at Brunel and why would you recommend Brunel to others?
I chose Brunel due to the opportunities it provides its students and would recommend it for the same reason. There is great focus on professional development, through placement opportunities to events such as those held during Law Week, which allow enthusiastic students to explore their options from an early stage.
What is your best memory of studying here?
My best memories are probably those involving the extra-curricular activities I participated in. My time as Debating Officer was extremely rewarding but also was being involved in important causes, such as actively contributing to Brunel's Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy.
If you could give one piece of advice to current Brunel students, what would that be?
Immerse yourself in the experience. Your time at university is intense but it will go by quickly and you will never regret doing as much as you can to develop yourself as a person and future professional.
What would be your top tip or key advice for new graduates as they begin their career journey after leaving Brunel?
Do not underestimate the power of networking - reach out to your contacts and learn from people. I would also say to not compare your journey to other people's as there are increasingly different ways to enter the legal profession. Everyone has a different path after university and that is ok.
