What are you passionate about and why?
When presented with the question “Why do you want to be a lawyer?” my impetus was striving for prevailing justice. The tale of my late grandfather’s murder and his bigoted murder trial coerced me to study law and change prevalent prejudice and injustice. It was my utmost desire to study law, however, in my country, studying medicine was contemplated as the only reasonable profession for female and smart students, which certainly is a myth. Every part of me wanted to transform our society which in my view was achievable through the legal profession. Nevertheless, I was single-minded not to compromise my end goals. Becoming a lawyer, and as a female with an outgoing personality, stood a cultural taboo. Despite several hindrances, I kept working hard consistently and eventually paved my path towards Brunel Law School.
What does a typical day at work involve for you?
In my current role as a Legal & Regulatory Compliance Intern at Orange Business, I have the privilege of putting my theoretical knowledge into practical use. I actively engage in ensuring regulatory compliance within the organisation, navigating complex legal requirements, and staying up to date with the ever-evolving legislation. Simultaneously, as a Human Rights Watch (Next Gen) Ambassador, I passionately advocate for the protection of human rights and the promotion of social justice. Balancing these two roles provides me with a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape, enabling me to make significant contributions to both the corporate world and society at large. Overall, my experiences as a Legal & Regulatory Compliance Intern at Orange Business and a Human Rights Watch Ambassador have not only solidified my passion for law but also deepened my understanding of legal systems. These roles have fostered my unwavering commitment to promoting justice and human rights in all my future endeavours. With each experience, I continue to refine my persuasive writing skills while actively engaging in a range of activities that positively impact society.
What are your plans for the next two years?
I have an interest in becoming a Solicitor Advocate, but before I enter the professional world of law on a full-time basis, I wish to enhance my legal knowledge by undertaking short law courses and exams.
I have been fortunate enough to take on meaningful roles, such as being a Legal & Regulatory Compliance Intern at Orange Business and serving as a Human Rights Watch (Next Gen) Ambassador for London. These opportunities have allowed me to apply my profound passion for law and human rights in practical settings, enhancing my understanding and skills. Currently, I am pursuing the Complete SQE Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice at BPP University, building upon the solid foundation I acquired during my previous education in law at СʪÃÃÊÓƵ London.
