How has Brunel helped you grow personally and/or academically?

Joining the chemical engineering department has helped me grow academically and professionally as I’ve been allowed to work at the Uni doing a summer internship. Doing this has given me major experience that I’ve been able to present on my CV and discuss in cover letters that has helped me secure a placement with UKRI.

Have you completed a placement year?

I have a placement next year. Brunel has many ways of sharing information about what placements are available like through emails and job fairs that are held often. As well as you can book time with an advisor who will help with writing CVs and the application processes of placements and graduate schemes. Within my department as well, professors who may have worked in industry have helped with the information to add that will stand out to employers and give references.

What are the most useful facilities at Brunel?

Having the library open and available 24/7 is great and the group study rooms inside are great for dealing with group projects. There are also department-specific building like the towers and quad north which only Chemical engineering students have access for example that are great for studying closer to exams. Being a sports-orientated Uni also means that the sports facilities are very nice and the gym has a women’s only section as well that has great equipment and is always nice and clean.

Do you commute or live on campus, can you tell us your experience either as a commuter student or living in halls?

I currently live in halls on campus. This has been a great experience in meeting other people in halls and also around campus. As everything is close together it has been great being able to easily go to the library or gym in just a quick walk. The campus also feels safe
