Going to university can be exciting, but it can also be a difficult time for many. You may find yourself feeling quite anxious or stressed about your studies. That’s why it is important to look after your mental health. Here are a few ways you can do this:
Seeking support:
If you are struggling for any reason, you can reach out to the Student Welfare Team at Brunel. They can help connect you with mental health advisers and counsellors who will help you with any struggles you may have. Brunel’s Counselling and Mental Wellbeing service offer short term 1-2-1 counselling that provides you with the necessary advice to help overcome any mental health difficulties you may be experiencing. In addition, Brunel’s mental health advisers work with you to provide ongoing emotional support and advice. Always remember - you never have to suffer in silence!
Looking after yourself:
Looking after your body means looking after your mind. Eating healthy and exercising regularly can improve your ability to focus as well as put you in a better mood! It is also crucial to make sure you are getting enough sleep. Sleeping helps recharge your mental and physical batteries, allowing you to make the most out of your day!
Managing your time:
Having too much on your plate can be incredibly overwhelming, so try and maintain a balance between your studies and other things you may like to do. One way to do this is by creating a schedule or routine so that you have enough time for all aspects of your life. 
Having some ‘me’ time:
It can be helpful to invest your time in yourself and find outlets that work for you! This could be playing an instrument, running or drawing. Why not even try something new? 
There are so many things you can try at university without having to break the bank - such as rock climbing!
