When you’re trying to stick to a budget but want to treat that special someone, planning the perfect date can be difficult.  Whether it’s a long-term relationship or a ‘let’s just see how this goes’ kind of vibe, we’ve come up with the perfect list of student-friendly dates just for you!

1) Bowling

Yes, the shoes may not be great but you’ll have a ball! Airport Bowl is just a short drive from Brunel and offers good student rates. One game costs £4 and additional games cost £2.50. Plus, if you work up an appetite, they sell plenty of food and drinks too!

2) Borrow bikes

Grab a bike and explore the area! There are lots of lovely hidden spots around Uxbridge, especially by the canals. Download the Santander Cycles app; rides cost £1 for 30 minutes or the annual student rate is £30.

3) Pick Fruit

Take advantage of a nice summer’s day and head to Copas Farm Iver. It’s only ten minutes from Brunel and you’ll have a ‘berry’ good time! There’s an entry charge of £3/person, however, this charge is covered by the produce you pick and buy.

4) Karaoke Night

Karaoke is always a fun night, even if you can’t hold a note like Beyoncé! Plus, song choice reveals a lot about a person. Every Tuesday night during term our local bar Locos holds a Karaoke night. This would also be a great location to introduce each other to your friends!

5) Cinema

We all love a good Movie Night but as students, the Cinema in Uxbridge may seem a little expensive. Tickets can cost up to £12.75, depending on the time/day you go. Top Tip: To save a little bit of money download an app called ‘Fever’. You can purchase tickets for £8.49; this purchase will provide you a code to redeem on the Odeon website/ in store when selecting your seats. You can then use the money you save to buy extra snacks!!

6) Dinner

Dinner may be cliché but it has long been a standard date night and for good reason! Uxbridge offers a large range of restaurants so there are plenty of cuisines to choose from. Many restaurants offer student discount so you can save up to 40%.

Additionally, taste card is offering students a three-month free trial; with this, you could save up to 50% off your meal. Dinner dates don’t have to be expensive!

7) Tennis

GAME, SET, MATCH! Brunel has their very own tennis courts so you don’t even have to leave campus! A court costs £6/hour for students and you can rent rackets and tennis balls if you don’t have your own! Why not make it a doubles match and invite another couple?

If none of these dates are for you, it’s time to think outside the box! What does your date do in their spare time…are they sporty? Are they creative? Are they outdoorsy? Putting your date's interests before yours is a romantic gesture which won’t go unnoticed!
